Dates for the FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary and Ordinary Ministerial Conferences announced

The Oslo Ministerial Mandate adopted by the FOREST EUROPE signatories in 2011 established an intergovernmental negotiating committee (INC) for a Legally Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe. According to the mandate the committee shall present its work to a FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary Ministerial Conference for its consideration and possible adoption.

The FOREST EUROPE Extraordinary Ministerial Conference will be held back-to-back with the 7th FOREST EUROPE Ministerial Conference in the week from 19 to 23 of October 2015 (exact dates to be confirmed) in Madrid, Spain.

The two Conferences will be prepared separately:

  • The preparations for the Ordinary Ministerial Conference will start in the first week of November 2014 with a Round Table meeting addressing potential topics for the Conference in Spain. The results of this Round Table will be presented at an Expert Level Meeting that will be held during the third week of January 2015 in Spain.
  • The preparations for the Extraordinary Ministerial Conference will start in November 2014 with an Expert Level Meeting that will be held back-to-back with the Round Table mentioned above.

Information about the meetings will be posted at the FOREST EUROPE website in due course.
